When you first create a GCash account, you start with a Basic Profile. To access more features and higher limits, you need to complete full account verification. Here's exactly what changes when you upgrade.
GCash Basic Account
A Basic GCash account allows you to perform essential transactions — sending money to other GCash users, buying load, paying bills (with limits), and cashing in. However, your daily wallet balance is capped at a lower amount, and daily transaction volumes are restricted. Basic accounts are sufficient for light, everyday use.
GCash Fully Verified Account
A Fully Verified account (also called a KYC-verified account) removes most of the restrictions on a Basic account. Verified users can hold a much higher wallet balance, conduct larger daily transactions, and access premium features not available to Basic users.
Feature Comparison
Basic accounts can: send money via Express Send (within limits), cash in over the counter, buy load, pay select bills, and use GCash QR for payments. Fully Verified accounts additionally unlock: GSave (virtual savings account), GFunds (investment marketplace), GCredit (personal credit line), GLoan (instant cash loans), GInsure (insurance), and higher wallet and transaction limits.
Check your current limits and account status anytime by tapping Profile > Profile Limits in the GCash app.
How to Upgrade from Basic to Fully Verified
Complete the KYC (Know Your Customer) process by tapping Profile > Verify Now in the app. You will need a valid government ID and the ability to take a clear selfie. Verification is usually completed within 3 business days. See our detailed GCash Full Verification Tutorial for step-by-step guidance.
Who Should Stay Basic?
If you only need GCash for occasional load purchases or small payments and do not wish to provide ID documents, a Basic account may be sufficient. However, for anyone who regularly uses GCash for bill payments, transfers, or savings, upgrading to a Fully Verified account is strongly recommended.
