GCash is the Philippines' leading mobile wallet, used by over 81 million Filipinos to send money, pay bills, buy load, and invest — all from a single app. If you've never used it before, this GCash tutorial for beginners is exactly what you need.
What is GCash?
GCash is a finance super-app regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). It lets you perform digital transactions like fund transfers, bill payments, shopping, and even investing — anytime, anywhere from your smartphone.
Step 1: Download the GCash App
Search for "GCash" on the Google Play Store (Android) or the App Store (iOS). The app is free to download. Make sure you have a registered Philippine SIM card ready before proceeding.
Step 2: Create Your Account
Open the app and enter your mobile number, then tap Next. You will receive a 6-digit authentication code via SMS — enter it and tap Submit. Select New Account, fill in your personal details accurately, and tap Confirm.
Step 3: Set Your MPIN
Create a 4-digit Mobile PIN (MPIN). This PIN protects every transaction you make, so choose something memorable but not obvious. Tap Confirm and then log in to start exploring.
Step 4: Understand Basic vs. Fully Verified Accounts
All new users begin with a Basic Profile, which has lower wallet and transaction limits. To unlock higher limits and premium features like GInvest, GSave, and GCredit, you need to complete full account verification (KYC).
Tip: Fully verified users enjoy higher daily transfer limits and access to GCash's full suite of financial services.
Step 5: Cash In to Your Wallet
Before you can send money or pay bills, you need funds in your GCash wallet. You can cash in via bank transfer, over-the-counter at partners like 7-Eleven and SM Malls, or through international remittance partners.
You're Ready!
Once your account is set up and funded, you can send money, pay bills, buy load, scan QR codes at stores, and much more. Explore the other tutorials on this site to master every GCash feature.
